Endodontics / Root Canal Treatments

Home / Endodontics/Root Canal Treatments

Endodontic therapy, commonly known as root canal treatment (RCT), is a dental procedure used to treat infections or damage inside a tooth. It focuses on saving a tooth that might otherwise need to be removed.

During a root canal procedure, an endodontist (a dentist specialized in this treatment) carefully removes the damaged pulp, cleans and disinfects the inside of the tooth, and seals it with a filling material. This helps prevent further infection and preserves the natural tooth.

Afterwards, the tooth is restored with a crown for protection. Only after the crown placement, the tooth continues to function like any other tooth.

Saving the natural tooth with root canal treatment has many advantages:

  • Efficient chewing
  • Normal biting force and sensation
  • Natural appearance
  • Protects other teeth from excessive wear or strain
